Es war im Juli letzten Jahres als ich von einem intensiven Traum erwachte und mir den letzten Satz notierte, in der Hoffnung er würde mir später den Inhalt des Traumes wiedervor Augen führen: Jetzt weiß ich wo das Taxi ist und werde nicht mehr danach suchen. Doch ich kann mich beim besten Willen nicht erinnern. Der Satz ist das einzige, was mir von diesem Traum geblieben ist plus das diffuse Gefühl, dass es ein merkwürdiger Traum war. Und da fällt mir auf, dass ich mit merkwürdig seltsam meine aber im eigentlichen Wortsinn bedeutet das Adjektiv, etwas ist es wert, beachtet oder wahrgenommen zu werden. Diese Ausstellung ist der Versuch, diesem verflüchtigten Traum visuell auf dieSchliche zu kommen. Mein Ansatz ist dabei retrospektiv. It originated during the Between Bridges Residency, where the central location and expansive setting inspired Harry Hachmeister to reimagine the space not solely for personal use, but as a shared, communal environment. Open and free training sessions are offered three days a week-an offering that goes beyond traditional fitness by fostering both physical and social engagement. For Hachmeister, the act of shaping is a shared principle in both working with clay and physical training. These two practices- artistic and physical -intertwine, blurring the boundaries betweenart and movement, studio work and everyday life. The layers also merge on a design level: subtly placed ceramic objects within the fitness context extend the exhibition beyond the storefront. Under the title Harry's Haushaltswaren ("Harry's Household Goods"), Hachmeister presents ceramic everyday items -from egg cups to onion pots. Previously circulated only in private settings, these objects are now publicly visible and available for purchase. The storefront becomes the stage for a thoughtfully conceived retail concept: complete with price tags, LED lighting, and intentionally mundane offerings. The proceeds during Gallery Weekend Berlin went to three Berlin-based initiatives that support trans*,inter, and queer communities: TransinterQueer e.V., Casa Kua, and Trans Sexworks. <img minninger. Its title combines an apparent contradiction: Herren (German for "gentlemen") word that suggests authority, control, and stabilityand zitter ("to tremble" or "to shake"), which evokes a physical or psychological state of fragility, instability, or exertion. It is a tension that runs through the works themselves, connecting themwithin the space. At the center of the exhibition are Fragile Egos-sculptural, mushroom-like objects whose delicate branches and battle concrete bases convey a sense of instability. The gaze wavers between organic growth and parasitic proliferation. Beauty transforms into something disorienting. Everything connectsand intertwines, defying clear categories and expectations. The exploration of fragility, transformation, and ambiguity continues in the reverse glass paintings. An inherent randomness in the technique lends the works a playful indeterminacy, allowing meanings to overlap and traditional notions to shift. Reminiscent of stained-glass windows, the pieces break free of religious narratives and instead conjure new possible worlds: a grim-faced bee figure juxtaposed with a skeleton reinterprets the classic dance of death motif, while elsewhere a cat provocatively obstructs theview of an exposed genital. Symbolically charged scenes brim with a sense of humorous lightness. Nothing in the show is static; nothing claims absolute truth. What we find instead is an atmosphere of becoming and changean inkling that masculinity need not be associated with hardness, strengthand steadiness. Here, bodies are free to be fragile and playful. This is the title of Harry Hachmeister's exhibition. As light-hearted as these words are, they must be taken seriously. By combining different media and techniques, from photography to painting and ceramics, the artist creates spaces that are conceptual and yet open. The isolated individual work takes a back seat to a coherent spatial solution of interrelated works and objects. Hachmeister looks at the world without cynicism. His works are characterized by melancholy and pain, but always also by joy and hope. As a house of feelings, the exhibition is intended to awaken associations and inspire empathy. Hachmeister choreographs the exhibition spaces. He has already integrated construction site signs and pushcarts into his installations. These motifs of masculinity in the male- dominated construction industry enter into a dialog with his art. Hachmeister opens up the aesthetically charged museum space with the construction site reference to the unfinished and the imperfect - both central themes of his art. Supposed role models, but also the body that can be shaped by exertion, are the focus of a series of ceramic works that he has modeled on weights and dumbbells from gyms. The body as form, the confrontation with one's own body image and identity are themes that Hachmeister addresses in his works. The artist transforms the cool and simultaneously heated reality of sports centers into sensual ceramics, which he varies in form and color with a wink. These are stories about life, about his life, about the world out there that Hachmeister shares with us. He shows all the ambivalence, blurriness and ambiguity that should actually teach us not to think in pigeonholes. "Someone like me" raises questions that we relate not only to what we see, but also to ourselves. Who am I in relation to the other person? How different and how the same? Hachmeister and Monka devote themselves intensively to the human and non-human body. Hachmeister works intuitively and allows his figures to develop in space. New forms are constantly being created, in which something of himself can always be found. The artist has been working with ceramics for a few years now. During his residency at the EKWC, he developed a new formal language. The objects are no longer completely glazed, but now tell the story of the creation process. Jonas Monka works more conceptually. "Time Recording Equipment" is an ongoing archive with his own body imprints in clay. At the same time, it documents the contact between clay and skin. In this way, the concept of the archive is also questioned. The colorfulness of the objects brings them back into the now, as they always exist uniquely in the moment, depending on the viewing angle and incidence of light. The objects by both artists playfully cross boundaries, unite opposites, refer to their creation process and thus show us the absurdity of binary ways of thinking.
